Getting Started
ResumeAI is a free, browser-based resume builder that uses artificial intelligence to help you write professional resume content. Everything runs in your browser, and your data never leaves your computer unless you choose to use AI features.
To begin, click "Start Building" on the home page or go directly to the Resume Builder. You will see a sidebar form on the left and a live preview on the right.
Step by Step Guide
Enter Your Personal Information
Start by typing your full name, job title, email, phone number, location, and social media links. The preview updates in real time as you type, so you can see exactly how your resume will look.
Write a Professional Summary
Your summary is the first thing recruiters read. Write a brief overview of your experience and career goals. Or use the AI Generate button to create one automatically based on your job title and skills.
Add Your Work Experience
Click "Add Experience" to add each position you have held. Include your job title, company name, dates, and bullet points describing your responsibilities and achievements. You can drag and drop entries to reorder them. Each entry starts collapsed to keep the form clean.
List Your Education
Add your degrees, diplomas, or certifications. Include the institution name, degree earned, and graduation dates. Highlight relevant coursework or academic achievements if you are a fresh graduate.
Add Skills and Certifications
Type your skills as a comma-separated list. Use the AI Suggest Skills feature to get recommendations based on your experience. Add any professional certifications separately with issuer and date.
Choose a Template
ResumeAI offers four templates. Click the template buttons above the preview to switch between them instantly. Choose the one that best fits your industry and career level.
Customize the Look
Use the accent color picker to match your resume to your personal brand. Toggle dark mode for a different viewing experience. Upload a profile photo if you are using the Modern template.
Export and Save
When you are satisfied, use Download PDF to save your resume. The print dialog will open with PDF saving instructions. You can also print directly. Your work is automatically saved in your browser, so you can come back later.

- Generate Summary — Creates a professional summary from your job title and skills.
- Improve Experience — Rewrites your bullet points with stronger action verbs and specific results.
- Suggest Skills — Recommends relevant skills based on your background.

- ATS Check — Analyzes your resume for applicant tracking system compatibility and gives actionable improvement tips.
Tip: AI-generated content works best as a starting point. Always review and personalize the output to match your actual experience and voice.
